Random Leak...

Can anyone help me with a leak I have on my moggy. the water appears to dribble from just below the dashboard on the far right handside, drip onto the parcel shelf below and then onto the carpet. after a lot of rain my carpet is soaked.
I am worried it may start to rot my floor seriously, at the moment i plan to put a rubber mat under the carpet to catch the water, but if anyone can help or has a similar problem and knows a solution for the long run i would be very grateful.

the windscreen rubber.... mine drips in to the drivers footwell when it rains get the hose and see if you can see anything.... it could also be from the winscreen washers (?)

Heres another random leak........

When left standing in the rain, the whole lower section of the boot, where the spare wheel clamp bolts in, becomes full of water...... why ?????

faulty boot lid rubber, rubbers round rear lights letting water in, the Morris and 1000 badges letting in water. Ours suffers the same problem, we need to fit our new bootlid rubber soon

I did wonder about the rubbers around the bumper irons......as it seems to let in soooooo much !

Bonnet hinge gaskets & wiper spindle gaskets are also prone to leaks. They drip onto the glovebox, then run down & appear under the dash.
Try water testing first, but you'll probably have to remove the glovebox insert to see where the leak is.

For the boot - make sure the gutter around the boot is in good order. Firstly this is where the boot rubber seals onto but more importantly, especially when the vehicle is stopped, the water from above the boot flows down into this guttering then around the sides and out again at the bottom.

In Dad's car someone has fitted a strut support to the boot (I think to hold it up without having to manually put the normal one in place). they attached it with screws in this guttering - the problem is the water gets down the screw hole, onto the wooden boot floor then (because of the angle its parked on) flows forward, under the back seat and Rusts the typical places for that area. Right now the car is sitting out in the sun with the boot and doors open to dry out after heavy rain last night. Must fix it before next rain. :S

sounds like you need some drain holes pretty sharpish.
A flooded boot floor feeds water to the rear chassis extensions which helps to rot away the rear spring shackle mounts

Here's another leak I've just found.
When it rains. water can also trickle down the window screen under the back of the bonnet, drip over the flange on the top of the bulkhead, down onto the large fresh-air pipe, trickle rounds it's grooves so it's then on the inside of the bulkhead grommet, and then drips off down into the drivers foot well!

leaks around the dashboard... all covered I think. It is the
part of the bonnet hinge nearest to the windscreen which leaks,
there is a gasket under it, and it is difficult to tighten the fixing
nut (tie the spanner to your wrist because if you drop it it will
disappear for ever inside the front hinge pillar)!!! Re the boot
also check the petrol filler hole and the wiring looms from the
rear light assemblies. These wires are in the wings and enter
the rear chassis members via a rubber grommet. If you bend
these wires so that the lowest part of them is BELOW the level
where they enter the car chassis then water will fall on the
road rather than run down the wires and into the car and from
there to the lowest part of the boot. I have made four 3/8"
drain holes in this rear boot floor area just in case!
