Yes it did - it seems to crop up at this time each year  , and no the Committee cannot/do not vote for themselves. If they did we wouldn't need an AGM would we? :D

I have sought clarification of the method and data ( minutes of the relevant committee meetings and attendees, and advocates) that the Comittee use to decide the 'trader of the year'.
Kindly, chairman John Frye has indicated that my request will be put before this months committee meeting, and I hope that I can report back to you soon afterwards.

I have just received confirmation that the question that I raised about the 'traders award' has been put to the MMOC committee and the answer is as follows

Dear Jonathan

Having taken your request to the Committee meeting as promised, I attach the information you asked for, which came by way of Rosie Hamilon:

1998 Paul Davies
1999 Charles Ware
2000 The Vincent Family

2003 Steve Foreman

2002/2004 Mike Lennon, Birmingham Morris Minor Centre

2005 John Vine, Minor Developments
2006 Richard Plant, Minor Parts of Oxford
2007 Mark Fitton, Bull Motif Spares
2008 ESM, East Sussex Minors
2009 Tom Roy

The award is not a Traders award, but was made as a private request from an individual member to be awarded to an individual or company deemed to have made a significant contribution to prerserving the Morris Minor. The fact that it has mainly been given to traders simply reflects the contribution that traders make to preserving the Morris Minor.

The award was not intended to be an official process, but was left to the discretion of the Committee to award on an annual basis, so there are no set criteria for awarding it other than that mentioned in the previous paragraph.

I hope that answers your questions.

Do we have to attend the AGM to vote or is there a postal voting system? How do overseas members vote on the committee? Sorry if this has already been answered - new member ..

Jonathon - Thanks for publishing the response from the committee. In my earlier post I called the award a 'Trader of the Year' award because it is referred to in the current issue of Minor Matters as the 'Reg Job award to the Trader of the Year'. Your response clarifies the position.

Sgray - there is no postal voting system in place.
