Good grief... I shall apologise for my sudden attack of muppetry... I hadn't realised that the Mini and Minor ones were so similar. That last pictire certainly makes my gold-faced one look spartan!!

Anyone care to join in? "Mana mana do do do-do do...."
Happy Minoring!

And I was just about to ask Gareth how likely it is that my 3 minors were all retro fitted with mini speedos.... :-?

Come on 123 Paul - put us out of our misery. Where are these mystery orange lights that flash with the indicator?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there also a broze speedo, with a central blue H/B light at the top and calibrated to 90? Please say yes, cos that's what's in my car!

Sounds like an earlier 1098cc speedo - until 1964 I think? Later ones were black and the earlier 948 gold /bronze speedos only went up to 80 I believe?

That's what I thought, I think the black ones came in in October '64.

I have a black faced speedo, typical of the later cars, which has a dark blue?/brown?/green? light in this top central position.
If it's black faced and has a green light at the top then it's a Mini speedo and is calibrated for a Mini!
Cheers Cam and 57traveller.
Those pics posted is just lke the one I have with a green light.
Just so you know, it's not the one fitted in my car! I have a proper Minor one fitted.
The Mini one was a spare speedo I have that is in MINT condition. Totally unused.

Cam, what would the green light have indicated? The indicator? Or some other random warning light?

The Mini speedos have a green indicator light above the 50MPH mark so the 50 is smaller which it isn't on mine or '57s
I'm not sure.... but I don't think mini speedo's had the 10 & 90 mph numbers printed the other way up..... but I only ran minis for 10 years and never really looked
Just something our eldest noticed last week :o
