Well I have completed day one of my 1,000 mile trip around the west of NSW here in Australia. Beautiful weather and car performing well, except for a problem with points after about 200 miles. Seems the gap had been set too wide (I'm SURE I did this right) meaning dwell angle was too low, resulting in the plugs progressively oiling up. The fault really got bad on a mountain called Mount Victoria - just as well I was heading down not up!
Anyway, a quick call in to a friendly auto electrician confirmed the problem and he set the dwell angle for me with his meter. The car now runs better than ever and I have noticed idle speed has increased and top speed now sits close to 60 mph! Not that I am pushing it that hard.
Here I am soaring along the Aussie highways...
And at the bottom of Mount Victoria
Will send more pics tonight! Cheerio!
