Sticking Choke

Post by ani »

Had a sticky choke cable on Sunday which resulted in car flooding. Upon testing it seems to work most of the time but occasionally hits a sticky point. I've also noticed that the end of the cable (small metal bit) doesn't seat in the housing i.e. just wobbles about on top. I expect it's not a Minor one so would you recommend replacing with the proper cable. Presumably it's easy enough to change.

Moved to mechanical as the post doesn't appear to relate to 'parts for sale'.

Yes - the metal 'bucket' at the end should fit into a holder or a clamp. Perhaps the remains of an older cable are occupying the space ?

Yep that's correct - I imagine it's supposed to fit snug into the housing which would mean that only the inner cable moves. I've ordered a proper one so hopefully that will sort it out providing I fix it in properly

it is just a push fit

you may need to route it in the same way as originally placed in a minor

Doesn't it just come out of the bulkhead and then down into the holder? Do I need to be aware of any other routing options - I can always check out the pickup - should be the same?
