hi, there i am having a problem with the rear indicator on the drivers side
all of the passengers side works fine and the same on the drivers front. The only one that won't work is the drivers side rear. I have tried replacing the flasher relay with a new one, I also tried cleaning the earth and replacing the bulb on the drivers side rear I cant think of what can be left to try
thanks for the help morrisminor mad :
If it was the flasher relay then it would affect both sides, so go and rescue the old one from the bin. You don't say what year car so I am assuming a 1098.
Work your way through the following steps
Have you tested the bulb before you fitted it?
Do the stop/tail lights work?
Try swapping the bulb with the bulb on the other side
Clean the spring contact at the base of the bulb, wiggle the bulb around when you fit it.
Disconnect the indicator supply wire and connect it to a test light earthed to the body, if that works connect the test light to the earth wire. If all that works then the fault is in the light unit.
No, not the stalk - we mean are you getting power to the rear light? All you need for a bulb is power and earth. You say you have cleaned the earth and I assume that the brake light and side light work so it must be power to the indictaor. Which type of light units are they - small all red ones or the later red and amber ones?

My indicators stopped working so i washed them out in situ with wd40 and a cloth. you should have seen the amount of grit and carp that came out. they now work better. The only problem is that the indicator relay gets hot does that mean it needs replacing.
