Name that carb

Post by LordAnthony »

Hello,

Can anyone identify this carb and will it be suitable for a 1275 sprite engine?
I'm not too fussed with performance as I'm quite happy pootling around with what I get from my current 1 1/4" carb so as long as it's no worse than that I'll be happy.

I want to create some vaccuum to reduce/stop the oil leak from the rear of the engine and I'm hoping this carb will be ok so I can use the breather.

The float chamber is the "wrong" side but I'm not sure if this matters?
Image
HS4 I believe - quite grubby - but a spray with 'Alloy Wheel Cleaner' (Poundland) will work wonders for the outside. And Carb Cleaner (most Pound shops - but not Poundland) for the inside. Will be much better if you can find an MG Metro inlet manifold for it - and don't worry about the float on the 'wrong' side - it will work fine.

Funnily enough I've just got back from the pound shop with my new can of carb cleaner.

Many thanks - I'll give it a clean and see what happens.
