MOT Question

Post by mike.perry »

You can MOT a car within 1 month before the expiry of the existing MOT, however if you try to MOT a car more than 1 month before then the computer will not let you proceed. At least this happened to me.
How do you get around the problem if you want to buy or sell a car with a fresh MOT?

There is a system over ride which allows you to MOT a car at any time which your garage is either not aware of or not willing to do. Take for example a CAT C damaged car - It could get written off on the same day that an MOT was completed. The car can then be repaired and ready for the road in say 2 months time, but, CAT C requires the car to be re MOT'd before the DVLA will release the paperwork for it - Wouldn't be good if you had to wait 10 months to get the MOT would it...?

Hope it works - because I plan to re-MOT my cars at the end of September - so I know I won't have any hassles next summer with them !

Didn't have that problem when I last sold a car and put a new mot on it, as mentioned it must be the tester at fault.
