Might make the trip as it seems that the subs income of £158,438 is largely spent on the magazine publication and postage £106,465 leaving
£51,973, most of which goes on wages £43,199 and Travel, subsistance and meeting expenses £13,046, which leaves the club at -£4272.00 .
To me this seems a little to biased towards the production of the magazine and as such makes the Club too heavily reliant on other forms of raising income. I'd like to ask maybe, if this bias could be swayed more in favour of core services ie better National and branch funding rather than on a magazine, which only seems to line the pockets of the publishers and the Post Office

I've got the financial statement but no agenda. Was it 'loose' or printed within the magazine as I can't see it anywhere :-?

Some very good points here Jonathon, and I truly believe that if some of my previous suggestions were adopted, the club could improve its financial status. Again this is not criticism, simply my thoughts (moderators).

The post was no longer applicable but I haven't found a way to completely delete a post. All it will let me do is edit the text but I still have to leave a message

Yes - they did a good presentation on it at last year's AGM.
The accounts don't reflect the (promised) great reduction in publishing costs due to the time period they cover.

Each branch is 'encouraged' to send someone to the AGM, and it's deliberately made the same day as a branch liason meeting - this is intended to "help" spread the word about what was discussed. For those that don't/can't attend their branch I can't imagine a better communication path than via this forum ;-)

I'm hoping to get to the AGM - don't know when/where it is yet as I only got back from Scotland last night, and have been at work today...
Many people come up with ideas and suggestions, but without following up with points/motions at the AGM, the ideas are likely to go no further.

For those that are interested in how the club works or believe they have suggestions for improvements, you'd be very welcome!
One of the reason that suggestions seem slow to take off is that it's still rare for anyone who wants change to stand and be counted.
I've voted against motions - occassionally being the ONLY one (and feeling rather red faced in the process) but am happy to say I'm still on friendly terms with committee ;-)

Just a reminder, the AGM and Liaison meetings are on Saturday 31st.
Each branch can be represented by two members, names to Rosie Hamilton. General club membership also welcome.

Just moving the topic to the top of the page so you don't forget that it is on Saturday 31st. Liaison meeting am, AGM pm.
In case you have not been informed , each branch can send two nominated reps, names to Rosie Hamilton, who will be entitled to a few free sandwiches for lunch. Other members of the MMOC are also welcome.

Just to clarify Mike for all our newer members - The Liaison meeting in the morning is for 2 nominated reps from all branches & registers and the AGM in the afternoon is open to all MMOC members.

As far as I am aware both meetings are open to all members but the AGM usually attracts the larger audience and the nominated reps get the free sandwiches.
