Engine Tower Spanner Size

Post by d_harris »

Anyone happen to know what size the nut on the "bottom" of the engine mount (rubber) is? Got the top two - 1/2" but to save me merrily rounding the bolt off any more I need to know.

Currently carless without the right tools. Not good. Only picked up what I thought I would need (Amateur Mistake) and cant get to the garage now :(

I prefer to unbolt the tower from the floor and undo the top bolts holding the mounting to the engine.

not much use when you are changing the rubber mounts....

Found a 14mm spanner which did it in the end :D

probably 9/16ths then!
if it was a 15mm spanner then would have been 5/8ths ;-)

The tower bolts, for some obscure reason were originaly 5/16th bsf, therefore 1/4 Withworth spanner size. Some strange things stick in your memory after 50 years, don't they?

The question was about the nut holding the rubber on to the tower which is 9/16 AF.
