gear box
freshly painted 1275cc anda very loud big bore exhaust
No - the 948 box has a smooth case, slightly different bell housing arrangement - and is MUCH weaker internally. The 1098 box has ribbed case, hole in slightly larger bellhousing to clear steering rack, and stronger internally. The later 1275 Spridget gearboxes are similar externally (with added rev light switch) - but with needle roller main shaft bearings and slightly closer ratio gear set.
I would be surprised if your 1275 engine will fit the smooth case box - if that's what you have.
