datsun engine now running

Post by morrisman1 »

In my second concurrent project, ive now got the engine running. For those that arent already aware its a datsun a15. Head has been ported on the inlets, manifolds have been port matched, twin dellorto DHLA40 carbs, 5 speed overdrive manual box, light flywheel. All else is standard as far as i know.

With just a coil attached to the battery we fired it up the other day, runs nicely but theres a shield rubbing on the flywheel making a tinny scraping noise, other than that it is all very good.

Its been for a drive up and down the driveway but i wont take it out and round the block until i have the brakes sorted, thats a job for tomorrow i think, ill be damn close to having brakes tomorrow, just need to kit the master cylinder and run the line to the booster.

it would be good to hear what you think of it!

Looking good and it fits a treat from the looks of things.
Is there any chance of re-sizeing the photo as its coming up rather large.
I am also going to move it into the modified section as its a bit more appropriate :D
Cheers

The 2 main problems are when the viewer is on a dial up connection and it takes for ever for the image to come up and the other is having not being able to see the image in full screen and having to slide the toolbar.
I think that you will find that reduced quality images are not to badly affected as most of them on here are fine although that may have something to do with the site software.
Its up to you but I know what most people find annoying, not being able to see the complete picture.
Cheers

That looks like it will be a fun car to drive. I used to have a similar spec engine to that, in a Datsun 1200 coupe. It would valve bounce in top gear. Trouble was, it got really loud with the side draughts when you leaned hard on the loud pedal.
