An unusual bird has been visiting my garden and I've found out he's a house finch, native to the USA.
He looks like a chubby robin who has had a tin of red paint poured over his head.
The RSPB say he's possibly been 'blown of course' and may survive as he's using the feeder and seems to be pals with a family of sparrows. They said he might follow the sparrows example to go to denser cover in the winter.
Anybody else sighted one? There was one sighted in Hertfordshire earlier in the year according to the wildaboutbritain web site.
Trying to get a photo but he's quite shy.
