Computer Surge protection

Post by millerman »

Is it worth getting a surge protector for my PC?

Anyone experienced a surge of electric power and can definitely say the surge protector saved the PC or any other piece of electronics?

Looking forward to advice on type to purchase and any other relevant comments :D

I am informed that these power surges can happen, but I've never had a protection system and never been the victim of such an occurrence.
But tomorrow is not here yet..............

If you are worried about the possibilty, and have the spondulux, then buy one. Which manufacturer you could trust..................? Tricky!

I've had a modem taken out by a nearby lightening strike.
Also computer equipment at work sometimes doesn't come back to life after a power cut some of which I suspect may be caused by power spikes when power returns.
As Sidney says it's cheap insurance so I have one on my home PC.

Buy one of the Belkin ones as they come with a lifetime guarantee for the equipment that you connect to it!

A surge protector is definitley worth it, an office I worked in had 50% of the machines fried by a nearby lightning strike - none of the machines were surge protected.
