great to hear you're joining us in Sussex Dan, and thanks for the offer of help, I may be calling on you for that later in the new project.
I am going to take Don's advice and start a new thread with the new pickup. What do you think I should call it, Ratty revisited, or Ratty reborn as Ani once suggested.

Jan 06: The Minor SII Africa adventure: http://www.minor-detour.com
Oct 06: back from Dresden with my Trabant 601 Kombi
Jan 07: back from a month thru North Africa (via Timbuktu) in a S3 Landy
June 07 - back from Zwickau Trabi Treffen
Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_frown.gif)

Re: 1000 pickup relic
i'd forgotten how bad things were when I started, pritty horrible really, still there's some great lessons on this thread for anyone thinking of starting a restoration, do your homework, shop around and don't drag the first car out of a hedge that you find. There are plenty of far more reasonable subjects out there for sale. (Even if it was a epic story)[frame]

Re: 1000 pickup relic
Its quite a relief to see where I am now compared to last year, I wonder if this thread could be posted over to the restoration thread, could any moderators move it over? There are still images on here I want to look over for double checks, the pickup relic was original after all.[frame]

Re: Pick up Restoration (Part 1)
This looks great! Are you planning to do a front disk brake conversion?

Re: Pick up Restoration (Part 1)
Not for the time being Mr snack,I'm restoring her to her original spec, if I like her like that I might keep things that way, but if driving is impractical I may consider an upgrade later on.

Re: Pick up Restoration (Part 1)
The front brakes are being assembled in original spec, Mr snak mentioned about front disc brakes, they are always an option for the future.[frame]

Wow David! Now THAT is a beautiful piece of (your) handiwork! We're all very proud of you.
The way to a man's heart may be making food, but the way to my heart is buying me car parts!
