That read 51 years old not 1951. Scrapping a Series MM would really have got me wound up.

Well done for Autotrader on this one. The Daventry one dissapeared off the radar before I managed to get a story & pics put together. I still suspect they crushed it ASAP and pretended it hqad been sold to avoid bad press.

While we have owners willing crush classics, this will continue. DVLA has no record of the car in the pictures by the way, unless the plates were changed for the photo.

I have just been reading about your scrappage scheme there in the UK. No doubt someone will suggest it here in Australia. I hope not. Hasn't anyone pointed out that the pollution caused by producing a new car far outstrips that produced by running an older one?

Looking at that car it has had some money spent on it by the looks of things even the headlining is nice and clean and the silly thing is that car is worth more than £2,000 but maybe the owner was not a club member and didnt realise its true value.....................................

Let's not forget it may have been inherited by someone who didn't like/know anything about these cars. This would have been a heaven sent opportunity for them to get a new car. It may look fantastic from where we are sitting but it could have also just failed an MOT in a big way that the owner couldn't afford to repair and didn't have the time/space to keep until they could. Sad but that's life.

I found a leaflet in a new car dealership the other day that started with 'Like the idea of doing your bit to save the planet by scrapping an old car?'

I couldn't help but burst out laughing at their sheer stupidity...

Remember that the stupid person could be elderly or disabled and in need of additional money to purchase a modern car with the comfort of the warranty that comes with it. Not everyone is good at getting a good price for a car and should not be too quick to judge individuals when we don't know their circumstances

We just have to accept the fact that it's sad but we can't ever save them all

OK ur right ani!!

but an idea came up driving home, can this car be put on hold? if it gets scrapped what benefit will there be from it? so y don't maybe the local council auction it for charity????

btw im still curious on condition if its in a very good condition might be worth it to ship it over here and scrap my battered 4 dr!
