Here's pictures of my broken cable and speedo - couple of questions. 1275 midget engine with 5 speed Sierra gearbox Speedo is I think a Triumph but don't think it works properly anyway. Need to fit a new one and then look at maybe re-calibrating the speedo later.
What type do I need?
Difficult to undo it from the gearbox end - seems to be some kind of housing cover - do you just try and prize it off with a screwdriver?

Not sure what type of rear axle/diff ratio you have but speedo will have been changed to suit. Look for a tiny little number on the speedo e.g 1248 which gives the tpm (turns per mile) of the speedo. If you think the speedo is accurate then you need another one the same. Mini Cooper maybe? Probably get one on ebay.
Not sure about cable on a sierra box but no doubt someone will know.
There is a chart on the Series MM register website, click on car identity and scroll down. It gives a list of different Minor sized speedos with their TPM and applications
Aye - but this is not a Minor speedo - nor a Minor gearbox ! To test any speedo - use a reversible electric drill with a 'square' bit in the chuck. Run it in reverse in the speedo cable entry - just go gently - and the needle should rise and the miles start ticking up!

The cable goes into a sort of turret on the box. The circlip sits in a groove at the bottom so as to retain the flat plate on the cable. Once clean of oil/grease/dirt it really is impossible to miss - unless, of course, it's already been removed. It is only the cable that you're trying to remove, the drive stays in the box. I'll post a photo for you, if I get a chance.
