What wiring loom to get?
the car is registered as a 1961. It has flashing direction indicators with the relay box in the engine bay, older style of key and the pull starter knob.
I was going to get MS89C/ALT for it from morrisminorspares.net but i want to confirm that it is the correct loom for the car before i buy it, seeing that they arent exactly cheap.
It has the earlier rear lights, and the earlier front park/indicators and an alternator conversion

the current one is an absolute mess, theres patches all through it and in the thickest bit there is a cable which has been fried. Its just not worth working with the current one.
I will ring bull motif tomorrow and ask them the specifics about each loom

Autosparks are an excellent firm to deal with: they know their stuff, and they're very pleasant people. They're also only a couple of miles away from me, which helps, but I believe they send stuff all over the world.
You can also ask for modified versions of standard looms - they'll do whatever you ask. Don't forget to order any terminals and accessories you need at the same time -some of their bits and pieces are much cheaper than you'll pay elsewhere.

Cameron, I built my loom for AK from scratch. Not too difficult, just a little time consuming. Just use primary colours and tag the ends with circuit numbers.morrisman1 wrote: I was going to get MS89C/ALT for it from morrisminorspares.net but i want to confirm that it is the correct loom for the car before i buy it, seeing that they arent exactly cheap.
And you can beef you some of the feeds if required. Not original as BMC states, but you can get exactly what you want at a good price.

thanks guys,
ive ordered MS89C/ALT from bull motif after ringing them and quizzing them about the details.
Yes it does use the flashing indicator relay, Yes it is for cars which are transition ones, like look like the earlier 1000 but have the running gear from later ones, and flashing direction indicators.
It is supposedly the same as the loom in my 63 minor 1000 chassis 982864 so that will work perfect for the other car.
In some places i may have to cut off the lucar connectors but i think they mean for the voltage regulator, which isnt used anyway, my 63 car has lucar blade connectors on the indicator relay and volt regulator but nowhere else from memory.

There is also a place in Melbourne Australia that make the original or modified to your requirements and the loom comes in the colour fleck of your choice

Another vote for Vintage Wiring Harness. I got one from them for my Series II and specified extra wiring for flashers. The harness fitted exactly (and I mean Exactly - every lead was in the perfect place) and it looks right too - right colours etc. Good service.
