Just get yourself down to halfords (or a proper tool shop, prob cheaper) and get one with a lever arm. Flexi ends aren't expensive but are normally sold seperatly.

I think you will be lucky to find one in Halfords!! They don't carry any useful stuff like that anymore. More chance in a tool-store - or an agricultural engineers place !

does anyone have any tips for getting the gun back off the nipples? I always have to yank it hard!

Can't think of the words to describe the action accurately, but, you just need to bend the nozzel to 90 degrees to the nipple and it kinda levers itself off....

Yes - kind of twist and turn motion required!

I sometimes have trouble getting a good seal around the nipple, then things can get messy.

Try a holding bit of cloth over the nipple then putting the grease gun on.
It helps to seal the joint but grease still passes into the nipple.

I got a cheapo grease gun from the local cheapo tool shop, and it sort of didn't quite work for a short while, until it made its mind up and stopped working altogether.

So then I got a second hand Wanner grease gun off E-bay. Very good, very cheap. Two separate gorillas, at least. Not entirely dissimilar to this one

Halfords? -I went in there for a tyre valve extension elbow for a trailer. "I've never heard of one of those," said snotty assistant, in tone of voice indicating that she clearly thought I was making it up.

That figures," I thought. And got one on E-bay. :P

Proper job that is, I've got the same one.
I used to have a cheap one that relied on a rubber gasket and a lot of pushing to make a seal. It was useless.

They did 25 years ago when I got mine! In those days you could buy A/F spanners.

I think the trick with Halfords is to look first and only ask if you can't find....

TBH I think most of the staff seem to be teenagers needing a bit of pocket money who don't actually have a clue about cars or tools!
They probably think a grease gun is a type of mediteranean rifle...
