It has been discussed before and there are a number of inaccuracies in the email shown above. No one can actually get hold of your number - it is only an introduction service and announced as such when the call comes in to your mobile - if you are really bothered by it just don't accept the call....

If you're careful about who you give your mobile number out to, there's a good chance it won't be on the directory, in which case there's no point giving it to them in order to 'unsubscribe'. Wait and see what happens - I bet you won't suddenly be bombarded with marketing calls as a result of this.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
Alex is correct - The only numbers they have are from you personally when you have ticked (or not unticked) the box that says "share my info" etc. This info is gleaned from many different sources such as online shopping etc. The very process of unregistering yourself would provide them with a number that they may not have already had in the first place !!! Anyway, I heard on the radio that the service has been shut down or suspended - don't know why but I'm sure a google will reveal all.....

They had technical difficulties and have shut the service down until they can resolve them: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/07/13 ... re_encore/
