Gearbox removal

Post by millerman »

My saloon broke down yesterday, gearbox problem, it won't come out of gear!
SO, over the years I have removed and replaced several gearboxes on Minors, not a difficult job but blooming awkward! I'm still learning, so any tips to make life easier much appreciated.
Does removing the left hand engine mounting rubber allow a little more room to get the box off and on?

Removing the rear engine steady allows the engine to tilt backwards giving you more room. If you are thinking of removing one of the front engine mountings, then make sure the engine is well supported (hoist or jack)!
