If that engine had Morris stamped on it, you'd be hard pushed to tell it wasn't original! (well, we would - but then again us lot are geeks!)

Well 'Morris' rocker cover stickers are easily available.
If you get found out say you "bought it in good faith"

Although this post being public would kinda scupper that defense :(

It might be "public" but I doubt that the New Zealand DVLA read it very often 8)

You're right Dan, you'd almost think they were the same car at first glance.
Image
do they treat you to datsun engines in the UK? Over here and in australia they are a very popular conversion as parts are easily sought, they are compact and offer durability of japanese engineering. Some of those motors came out with a forged crankshaft from factory. With a good set of valve springs they are good for 8000+ rpm.

My motor is a hotted up road engine rather than a race engine so its not designed for sustained high rpm use and uses a stock bottom end to my knowledge. There was a race engine for sale here, heres some pictures. I dont think it would be suitable for a morry though unless the rest of the car was built for the track. http://nismoclub.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=13037
