My Traveller

Post by Tonystraveller »

Been lurking a while thought I'd better make myself known, I've recently changed from many years of Mini Resto's to Minors and i've always wanted a Traveller, I bought it off ebay heres an ebay image
Image
When I started to strip it I realised the wood was worse than first thought it had been patched and filled with resin on the corners to hold it together so all this has gone and its new wood for him

As the panels come off i can see how much work he needs so it looks like a full resto pics will follow as I get them
Image
One funny bit was the drivers side window was very difficult to wind down when I took the door panel off the door was stuffed witjh 30 Pampers to keep it dry, they actually did the job but not an ideal repair really
Image
Really how bad was yours?

Engines out and wings are off
Image

Image
The floor panels are so badly welded I can prise the apart with a screwdriver with no effort at all

Hi

Do you mind me asking how much did you pay for it ?

As I mentioned on the forum a couple of weeks ago, I'm looking to buy one, but haven't go a clue about cars (prices, repairs etc).

I was told to watch out for cvars on ebay !

Thanks
Andy

Welcome to the forum! I recently bought a Traveller too, and it's in about the same condition as yours. I've got as far as taking the front wings off and the sill cover panels and was glad to see that the boxing panels are original and still solid. I will need to replace the central crossmember though. I bought mine from eBay for £360 and it was fitted with a Les Leston steering wheel which I sold on eBay for £260, so it only cost me a £100 in the end. :D Just as well as it needs all new wood.

What would you expect to get for £3k
Anything from a £300 wreck to a really good car that's worth entering in merit concours.

and what for say £6k
Anything from a barely legal nail full of filler and painted over, to a good show winner.

Mine came from someone at Holbeach, who in turn had bought it from someone a few miles up the road from there. However, the last registered owner was in Berkshire and it was last on the road in 2005, so it might have been around the country! By the time I had got it the engine and gearbox had been removed, along with the rear lights, but the bodywork is in pretty good shape.
