Windscreen Wipers not working

Post by ani »

I recently had a problem with the indicators ad break lights not working. After doing all the usual checks with fuses etc I fixed it by just moving around the wires underneath the dash - didn't actually do anything :o Could the wiper problem also be a connection problem under the dash?

Haven't had a good look under there yet so not really sure what I'm looking for!

Sometimes a fuse works loose, and sometimes wires get disturbed - using the bonnet release knocked some of mine a while ago :o . Best to check all connections before starting to worry.

OK - I'll get my head under the dash and check them out. Most awkward place - would be easier if I had an extendable neck :o

Check to see if there is any power at the wiper motor!

Use a volt meter! Probe the connections on the motor - with the other cable on the meter earthed of course. Could be done with a bulb and wire if you don't have a meter - but I do advise even a cheapy meter from Maplins is very handy to have in the car.

Thankyou - I don't have one but obviously a good idea to get one. I expect there will be many other occasions when it will be needed :-)

Buy refills at autojumble - and cut them to length to suit Minor.
