Does anyone know what size the bolts that hold the air filter onto a hif38 are? We reckon 5/16 unf possibly.
Its just I got a new filterand my old bolts are waay too long!

Fom memory they are quite a course thread.
Two possible options: Cut your bolts down or fit smaller/longer M6 bolts nuts and washers.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Just cut old ones down - why spend money on new when you don't have too ??

Because the old ones only have thread on the very end! And are then non-threaded all the way up to the head!

So they are 'bolts' - not screws. Almost certainly UNC - probably 5/16".

I think most people on here know the difference between a bolt and a screw BMC! I'm just wondering where it came from as screws hadn't been mentioned!
