Fuel gauge wiring

Post by markattard »

Talking about a series II fuel gauge (in front of driver not central) What would happen if the wiring is reversed? Any damage caused? Could someone indicate the correct position of, say the earth wire?

There are 2 green wires, the feed from the fuse box and the feed to the wiper motor. These are connected to the 'B' terminal nearest the speedo. The green/black wire from the fuel tank goes to the other, 'T' terminal.
If it still doesn't work don't ask me 'cos I can't get mine to work either!!!!!

I think that it is a problem with the fuel tank end. If there is any fuel in it, it registers full when I tap the gauge. Meanwhile I dip the tank to make sure I have enough petrol to get to the garage and carry a spare can of fuel in the boot.

Yep my bet is your sender unit, not the gauge. A new one will prob sort your problem. Not expensive from ESM or similar

I bet I still have to reverse connections if I'm wiring at a negative earth system?
