modified brake problems

HI all a mate of mine is building a Morris Minor pick-up with a Toyotat GT turbo engine, he has some problems in brakes, now he has standard master cylinder in standard position, coupled with a hillman hunter servo, going to Marina discs, the problem is he can't bleed the brakes, the servo is mounted on the bulkhead next to where the battery tray was, what's wrong here? thanks

Servo too high up! Mount it low down - on the tie-plates beside the engine - if there is room - otherwise - throw it away. Has he taken the little top-hat seal out of the master cylinder ? Essential mod if using disc brakes.

If you look at the exploded parts diagram in the manual, you'll see a little metal cup that looks a bit like a top hat, and inside it is a rubber seal. The rubber bit is the part you need to remove if you have disc brakes.

That's a sweeping statement. The MGB one is fitted there and works fine.

Try bleeding the air out of the servo first by loosening the union on the out side, put some rag under it and bleed it there. Then start on the brakes as normal.

It's master cylinder isn't fitted under your feet! And - my mates MGB brakes were MUCH better anyway after he threw away the wretched servo.
