First big trip

Post by Axolotl »

Have just returned from a week's holiday in Norfolk with the Traveller, about 500 miles all told, and I have to report that it performed perfectly.

This probably comes as no surprise to many of you, but I was sort of pleasantly surprised.

I'd made sure to pack al the essential break-down kit as advised elsewhere on this board, together with my AA card, but didn't need any of it, although the duck tape came in handy for mending a broken pan handle in the cottage we'd rented :D .

It's about 200 miles there and back, and about 100 miles of pottering about while we were there. Got 38-39 mpg on the long runs and 35 pootling about.

Well done Morris!
Cheers, Axolotl.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I am not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant.

This is great news, because I will need all the confidence I can muster when I get mine on the road. I am banking on doing a few miles in mine. :)

I've done several > 2000 mile trips in my cars. In total I did about 12,000 miles in Fenchurch last year. :)

I've only had one breakdown that couldn't be fixed at the side of the road, and I know what caused that (previous owner had boiled the engine dry and warped the block, causing a catastrophic head gasket failure at 70MPH).

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
