rear damper topup

Post by LordAnthony »

Hi,

I know the haynes manual says that you need to remove the rear damper to top it up but do you really need to?

No, not unless it is empty. Just unscrew the filler cap and top it up.

I have used a 20ml plastic syringe and a bit of washer fluid pipe. Dead easy and clean.
Don't forget to clean the damper cap with a wire brush before you unscrew it.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

One damper you can certainly do - but the other is at quite an angle and you won't get it properly filled unless you undo one bolt and swing it vertical - then refill - then swing back and refit bolt!
