Just fitted new set of plugs - how much should you tighten them?
Oil pressure guage reads just under 40 on tickover - when revving up the engine it go up to about 80. Is that normal? Can't say I've ever noticed it before!
Is the sump nut usually really really difficult to undo?!
2 - Mine sits about 40 when ticking over and goes up to about 60 when driving along
3 - When I first did an oil change on my car the sump plug was really really tight or I hadn't had my wheatie bangs . I don't do it back up as tight as it was, just til it pinched.

Nipped up for spark plugs - using a speed wrench and socket. 80 sounds high when revved up - possibly that's just with cold oil. Sump plug -make sure you are turning it the correct way! It should not be stupidly tight - just firmly nipped up against the copper washer.
The relief valve is at 60 as standard - yes, it can be packed up slightly to get a bit more, but it's not necessary for a standard engine. The gauges are notoriously inaccurate anyway! When cold/thick oil - the pressure can rise above the relief valve setting - but when hot it will sit on the relief valve.
Nope - Cooper S had stronger spring for higher pressure - but 60 is the norm for standard engines. Variations of course depending on age of spring etc - and accuracy of gauge!
