where do i find a roof rack and can i fit 155s to a 145 rim?
hey, in looking for a roof rack for my traveller to fit a surf board on. i love the vintage style of the curved chrome and the wooden slats across, just wondering if the mini or vw beetle roof racks would fit as many are up for sale on the ebay site.
also wondering if i can fit a full set of 155's to my 145 rims, would that be ok? or is the size too big and damage my rims etc, or to fit 155's would i have to change my rims?
cheers,
g

It's a bit risky putting a roof-rack on a Traveller because the rear gutters are made of thin aluminium and tacked onto the wood with pins.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

145s or 155s are perfectly acceptable. Provided that your wheels are air tight you will not need inner tubes either.
If you fit a roof rack do not anchor it to the roof guttering over the Traveller end of the car as it is only aluminium and not strong enough to hold any clamps. You will need to clamp it to the guttering over the cab roof

I can well see it's wanted for a board - I just don't think the Traveller roof is suitable ! It may pull the roof off your Traveller! Put the board inside - not on the roof.

That would probably lift the roof straight off a Traveleraggie wrote:nope its for a surf board so its got to be strong if you can imagine the uplift from when the wind gets under the board when you get up to 60-70mph!

yeah, thats what i do atm, but its a 7ft 6 board so it goes all the way to the passenger foot well meaning that i can't realy get many friends in the car and i'm ment to be doing a surfing / geology tour of irland and close bits of britain this summer before uni starts, so im in a pikkle. i think i may just strapp the board to the car with a few ropes ant tie it inside and just drive with the windows down for the ropes
