First check - wheel nuts! Are they tight? If you are now sure it's not the exhaust then look elsewhere.
Could be front suspension - if so beware - it can collapse, so check it carefully. Front damper bolts loose/broken - tiebar rubbers perished - lower suspension arm bushes perished - most likely is worn out trunnions/kingpins. Otherwise - could be rear suspension - not so likely to suddenly collapse - but still safety critical. Broken leaf spring/spring bushes perished/damper bolts or arm loose/damper arm bushes perished/chassis rotted and spring mounts not secure!
Check them all carefully.

is it a rattle or clonk
is it worse when cornering, or going over bumps or is there all the time

" just when driving over bumbs " Oooo - errrrrrrrr

" just had mot done so should be safe to drive " Ha ha ha ha - You don't really believe that - do you ??

If it's 'banging noise' - could be knackered dampers (should have been checked at MOT) allowing the car to batter the kingpin against the top of the inner wing - if the bump stop rubber has fallen off.
