If you don't have seat belts fitted, PLEASE fit them. Me and my daughter walked away from this today. We were hit from behind and rolled over before coming to rest on it's wheels. I KNOW we were saved by our seat belts. So if you don't have any, PLEASE fit some.

Seat belts are a must, you may drive safely but you need protection from the ones who can't.......

What a horrible think to happen - so glad you're both ok and I hope the car can be fixed up. It looks so nice. What was the idiot doing to hit you from behind???

Wow! Glad you are both ok - thats the main thing!

Like Alex I'm suprised at how well the car stood up to being flipped! I've got belts but I've always believed that if I was to ever have an accident of any substance I would be hovis. However, the idea of a steering column through the chest doesn't really appeal

The witnesses (thankfully there were several) said he swerved at the last minute to avoid us and lost control of the back of his car, which is what I think hit us, but not sure. The speculation is that he was on his phone or 'otherwise distracted'. The police officer at the scene said it was clear that we weren't at fault. It was on a dual carriage way so he was probably doing 70+, we were doing about 50 - 55. The impact put us into a sideways slide, I tried to steer into it but obviously there was no way I was going to recover it. The rear passenger wheel hit the curb and flipped us over. At some point the doors burst open, but the way Zoë's passenger door has dug into the ground I think that actually stopped us rolling again. I kept thinking 'oh my God the screen's gonna fold' but thank God it didn't. We were very lucky, it could have been so much worse.

P.S. It wasn't the blue Mondeo behind, that's my wife. Her and my youngest daughter were about 5 minutes behind us and thankfully didn't actually see it happen.

I am amazed and relieved that both the car and yourselves appear to have survived relatively unscathed - good luck in getting her back on the road and I hope the appropriate action is taken against the numpty who hit you !!!!

wow, that looks a very frightening experience. Very glad to hear you are both OK. Hope you don't ache too much later on.

I have the original seat belts in mine but not sure how well they'd hold up in an accident. I'm wondering if it is better to fit the inertia type.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I've several bumps on my head and a good dose of whiplash, my daughter's got bad bruising to her feet and legs and lots of grazes but neither of us has any broken bones or 'proper' cuts. We were so very lucky.

They were original static type belts. I'd not long bought 4 inertia type belts to put in but hadn't fitted them yet.

Glad that you are both OK. If the insurace co. write the car off, see about buying it back. It looks to have a good chance of being fixed.

Well done surviving that. Good case for a roll-over bar - as well as seat belts. It was the main thing that encouraged me to buy the particular TR7 I now have - good solid Aley roll bar fitted by previous owner. Mind you - the only time I have rolled a car ( Mini) - it didn't have a bar fitted - and there was virtually no roof damage at all - it landed back on it's wheels and then toppled over onto it's side.

Thank God you are both OK, what a frightening experience that must have been.

So glad that you both survived what must have been a horrific accident. Yes seat belts are a must as you have proved and like has already ben said, I am suprised that the car has survived as much as it has, but it's you two who matter.

Thank goodness you're ok. We fitted new inertia seatbelts to our convertible Saturday before going to the Potteries Rally. Very glad we did.
