Fitting points

Post by Squiggle »

Did I dream it or did someone post details [last year?] of a device to make the fitting of points easier?

I was sure it was Kevin but he denies all knowledge!

You know the scenario, you fit the points and tighten.

Then you recheck gap and the bloomin' thing moved while tightening.

Hold the gap open with a screwdriver in the adjuster slot whilst you tighten the locking screw

I find it easier to take the distributor out. Less chance of losing a nut or screw.

Not worth it on a Series MM. The dizzy is right on top where you can get at it.

Just fitted Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition to my distributor makes the engine much more smooth running I know some people say stick to points but it has made a big difference. My points were always adjusted correctly.
