I've seen this beaut

I can't decide if that's completely shonkey, or a diamond in the rough... what do you think?

It will all depend on the condition of the underside! But - looking at the general neglected state of the upperworks - I wouldn't be too hopeful. If you are after a resto project - this could be it - but not worth very much in present condition. What's the asking price ?

well mine was worse than that on the outside was near perfect structually,

ok it has new body panels and a respray , but i could have left it the way it was for quite a few years

They are all a diamond in the rough... but sometimes it costs thousands to uncover the beauty to everyone else ;-)

Depends what the underside is like.

Looks like its very similar kinda condition to my trav really.... Mine is rock solid but looks rubbish!

Both of mine are solid both bodily and mechanically but look pants on top. I've just spent £500 putting a new interior in the Traveller but now I need to sort the paint out. It will cost you money - they all do - but if you have fallen in love then go for it

I've seen that one on Auto Trader, been on a while.

Thats the sort of car I would seriously consider viewing if I had the money to buy a car.
I can live with rusty, dented outer panels that can be replaced bit by bit but the underside would need to be good.

It's up for £750.

I think it's quite tempting to be seduced by shiney body panels sometimes. Quite the quandary!

Do many of you guys keep your cars without a garage ?

Sounds a bit pricey for a short MOT, might be an idea to ask for it to be moted for a year before buying it ! at least then you will have the fun of driving it round rather than having a couple of months fun then discovering it needs a fortune spending to get another MOT. I got my 1956 series 2 with 11 months ticket for £750 last year and it only needed small bits doing to make it quite reliable, its now my daily driver and just passed another MOT with minimal welding.

Sounds expensive - I would say £350 maybe £400 is nearer the mark - and then only if the underside is good.

Buying a car in this condition is probably safer than buying one that looks great but starts developing orange streaks within a couple of months.There are many of these out there.I have recently seen a van for 10k that had traveller aluminium guttering put over the rot in the roof, ummmmm galvanic corrosion, sorry I digress.
So long as you are prepared for some work have a look and take a Morry Guru with you if poss.

if its solid underneath,then go for it.you can always do the shiney bits at a later date.in the mean time get the t-cut out.

The underside is everything. Look at my old 4-door taken in 2005 - looks lovely, but underneath that shiny paint it was filler and rust and is now scrapped (2009).<br>
