Roof and boot rack for a 2dr?

hi there. Could anyone point me in the right direction of a roof or boot rack for my 2dr 1000. I managed to fit my bike in the car after taking out the back seat and the front passenger but I would prefer to put the bike and other items on the roof. Is there a shop that sells them or any for sale on ebay etc.

You may be able to buy a proper cycle rack to fit on your car, which would be easier and safer than trying to lift a cycle on to a roof rack.

Bet the front passenger wasn't too happy being ejected for a bike! Easiest way will be a bike rack - standard type that fits to the boot with straps. Just be aware you should then have a visible numberplate on the bike. Or - there are others where the bike stand bolts to a tow bar (useful thing to have anyway) - again number plate and rear lights must be visible. I've yet to understand how people lift their mountain bike onto these vertical bike racks on the roof!

That would make sense. I just don't want to have it constantly fixed but would rather like to be able to drive with my other loved vehicle - my bike.

Do you have any idea where or how to get hold of a boot bike rack for the moggie then?

Hold on. I have a Halfords bike rack that straps on the back of my estate car. I'll try it on the Moggy and get back to you.

Mind you, I'm just remembering what you said about getting it in your car. if you're not competant getting the wheels off the bike then a boot rack isn't ideal because most bikes are 6ft long with wheels attached and a moggy is only 5ft wide. That's a lot sticking out.

Well my bike's wheels just unclip (I did that to get it in the car when I tried) so that's not a problem. But thanks for pointing it out, I hadn't considered width.
We have got a bike and roof rack for both our estate cars but ones a tow hook one and the other is a roof bar so I can't use either.

Well done - the lights are still visible - and if wheels were taken off there would be no extra width. That's the same type rack I use (mine is genuine vintage Paddy Hopkirk!!) - still trying to figure a way to hang my bike on the back of my Traveller! The roof guuters are obviously hopeless - and I don't really want to screw hooks into the door frames - although that would be one way! Since Stephen already has a tow-bar rack available - would make sense to fit a tow bar to his Minor surely ?
May be best way for my Traveller too.

I suppose, bmc you're right. I should fit a removable tow bar. Also means I could use a trailer. Its a future plan though.
