Hi
Yours is definitely a minor 1000 (started in 1956).
If you look at the chassis number it will start with MA then a leter denoting whether it is a saloon, traveller etc.. (2S, S, T) then will be followed by a number either 3 or 5. If 3 then it had a 948 engine and 7" drums, if 5 then it had a 1098 and 8" drums.
I think the series 5 started production in late '62 so yours will probably have the 1098 engine and 8" brakes. I'm happy to be corrected though..

Best get the ruler out and measure the front brake drums! And look at the engine number - it's likely to be 8" and 1098 - but could always have been an 'old stock' car with the earlier engine and brakes. Check to be sure!
BTW, just to avoid possible confusion, there wasn't officially a series 4 minor as that was the mini! hence the Minor 1000 range just consisted of series 3 & 5

Rears are all 7" on Minors - although - wait for it, wait for it ! - the Wolseley 1500 had excellent 8" rear drums (actually same as Minor front drums!!) - and that makes a very worthwhile and easy conversion. I'm working on it at the moment!
