Should I?

Post by mogbass_pj »

Hello, I am not really a total newbie, just a lurker. I have a 1983 Land Rover Series 3 109 GS as my everyday car, and have done since I passed my test. However I need a sensible car to take me to Uni in October, and have always hankered after a Morris Minor, its the only Car I would even consider!
My gf has just got a traveller project, thats had all the welding, painting and hard work done, and just needs me to bolt it all back together. Well this has made me want my own one even more.

Noseying around town today I looked at an old yard that was for sale and has been full of cars. Now its just been sold... the point is, there is a traveller, a 4 door and a couple of 2 doors in there (amongst the Austins, Volvos and others). Should I stick my head in and try and rescue one? They have all been sat there for years (ever since I started secondary school, and I'm leaving sixth form now!) so will need a fair bit of work. How much are they worth? Is there anyone local in North Shropshire that could possibly help me with them? (I can just about weld, but I hate it... I prefere screwing things and fiddling around with nuts and bolts!)

So advice before I go and put my foot it it!

Any old car that has been lying all that time outdoors - is very likely to be beyond economic repair now. Pay very little for the car if you do go ahead!

I went today, and it had been cleared off everything bar one 2 door which the old owner said he was keeping. I spoke to both the new owner and the old owner and they where both unpleasent. They wouldn't even tell me which scrappy had been used, but I know the local ones (useful source of bits for the Landy) so I think I know where to look. Shame really.
