Hi Guys
Anyone out there own a metro GTA? Been looking at an M reg, but new style version
what are your opinions, and any common faults we should be looking at (other than the head gasket!)

Dreadful single point injection through a modified carb is not the best, and was quickly changed for proper multipoint. The 1.4 K series especially pre 95 models seldom had head gasket issues.
Is this to drive or as a donor?

Drive
Its had the later stronger head gasket put on recently, and although its an M reg, its the newer style. Also just had the cambelt done (currently showing 78,000 miles)
I know the engines arnt the best, but its a run around car which has obviously been very well looked after. Other than rusty rear arches its almost immaculate. Even has new rear arch panels in the boot
Comes with a stack of receipts/history too.
We have agreed to pay £275 subject to it passing a new MOT (currently has one until october).

I would worry about why the gasket has been changed - and was it done properly. Earlier GTA had the uprated 1275 engine - that would be the one for me ! But - I guess it's worth a punt if willing to risk the engine.

Saw a Metro (sorry, Rover 100) Convertible out in the sunshine yesterday - rare beast.

I had one of those when they were new - went like sh*t off a shovel
. Traded my MG Metro for it and it was way quicker but much more ugly
Sold it on after about 4 years to a guy down the road who kept it until fairly recently when he scrapped it cause of terminal rot in the sills....

QUITE????
Compared to the fiesta, its a ruddy space shuttle
£330 took it home with a full MOT
even the remote central locking works. I'm a very happy boy

Looks an excellent buy for the money! Good luck with it!
Surprised (not really!) the seller didn't trade it in for the scrappage scam!
