hi my 15 year old son wants to buy a morris minor 1100 to do up and then drive when he is old enough, he has been offered one a 1967 in not bad condition it was on a private number plate which has been taken of by a previous owner and the new owner is not sure wether it has been registered as scrapped or not is there any way we can find out and if it has can we reregister it with a new number plate, as he does not want to buy it and then not be able to use it

You would need to ask DVLA - would help greatly if you know what the Private Registartion number was ? When that number was transferred off - another 'age related' number would have been issued to the car. failing all that - you should be able to apply to DVLA for number - send them all the details you have of the car - pictures of the chassis plate etc - and pictures of the car from several angles to show that it actually exists!



Welcome to the site. Is the car a Morris Minor (1098cc) or a Morris 1100 - they are different vehicles. Seems strange that the previous owner does not know whether his vehicle has been registered as scrapped or not but the DVLA will be the only people who can tell you this. Have you tried contacting them directly?
