Sorry to hear about your misfortune - but you are right to focus on the positives and keep everything in perspective (easy to say, difficult to do right now I guess).
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

So sorry to hear about the accident. Truly scary.
Just a thought: can you (or someone) contact your college and ask if you can take your exams later in the summer? There's usually a re-sit session in late August/September, so maybe you could rearrange for then? Other people with exceptional personal or health circumstances must fit into this category so I'm sure there'll be provision for delaying. It seems the last thing you could do with now is exam stress - especailly as the process of shock can take some time to work through. And you don't want to be worrying about under-performing in the exams because of this setback; that might only make the stress worse. Speak up and ask for the time you need!
All strength to you.

Really glad that you lived through it. The Minor may have helped absorb impact compared to some of the 70's cars but the steering column is a well known flaw for causing injuries. Without the lap belt it may have been through your chest
For anyone thinking about lap belts for the front of a classic - serious head injuries are not worth it. In rear seats they do at least stop the rear passenger from smashing into the front seat passenger and injuring both.
I've only had 2 Minors without belts and they both scared me whitless. I fitted belts in the 2 saloons but the SII traveller got left alone.

Good to hear you are mendable and showing commendable spirit given the circumstances. Shock can be a confusing thing and can last long so be prepared to be raging with anger too - although, with luck, that may never happen.
You've loved one Minor and you'll love another. All things considered, it sounds very much like the car did a great deal to protect you.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Hey all, i think everyone will be happy to know that I am doing MUCH better. I can now eat foods such as oatmeal and spaghetti(if its cut up enough to swallow whole). Ive regained almost full motion in my jaw and lips and can almost speak normally again. Also, i was finally able to put some weight on my leg.
I've decided to keep my Morris and just push it into the backyard. I figure when I'm up for it ill build a pro street hot rod out of the body seeing the chassis is pretty smashed.
I've already started planning my next project, a vintage hot rod out of a 1946 Chevy truck cab. I guess that will be for another forum!
Thanks to everyone who have been wishing me well. And especially thanks to all of the members who have helped me gain such valuable skills over the years. The amount of knowledge that exists on this forum is unbelievable.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
