Well the time has come to move my minor back to my home garage. Its been keeping me occupied while the house was geting refurbished. Now a new cosy garage awaits me and the minor! Unfortunatly my timescale on the car has slipped slightly!! it now needs to be moved this week but currently has no front suspension on it! Anyone have any ideas? I really dont want to bolt all the suspension on it only to have to take it off again to finish painting the underside. I have a trailer and plenty of bodys! best suggestion so far is to treat it like a wheel barrow and push it around on the rear wheels! the car is totally stripped so this may be possible. Anyone done anything similar?
I've lifted the front of a Minor without and engine and box and i'm a wee slip of a thing. If you could get a scaffold bar through the apertures in the front wings it would probably be a good height to allow two people enough clout to take it front first up a trailer ramp. As with any lifting, protect your hands and toes and keep a straight back.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
Well the "wheelbarrow" idear seems to be the way to go! thanks for the tip about using a scaffolding pole, will make it easyer not having to bend down as far at the front crossmember. Thursday night is the night!! so wish me luck - will keep you posted as to how the move goes!
Idally you want the pole through the car 6" - 9" below your carrying height with straight arms and back. That way your not bending to far as you start the lift.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
Its moved!! Hooray!! Was no problem in the end, 4 strong blokes ready to go, dropped the rear off the axle stands and before I could get a hand on it, the two a the front had it picked up wheeled out of the garage and onto the trailer!! Was going to try and get a couple of pics but it happened so fast I couldnt even get the camera out of my pocket! So anyone needing to move a Minor with no front wheels on it - The wheelbarrow way is the way to go
