13" wheels on a morris 1000

Post by oldmod1968 »

Hi, has anyone got pictures of a set of midget rostyles on a morris ? Also does it make a lot of difference to performance/top speed? Any pics or thouhts would be useful .

In theory it will accelerate quicker but have less top end speed - I've some pics somewhere. I'll put them up later if no one else comes up with any....

From my experience of 13" wheels (I'm running 175/65/13) you get acceleration that leave many moderns standing at the lights but my trav runs out of puff at about 55 - will go on to 70 if you REALLY rag it.

I'm hopefully building and fitting my 3.9 diff tomorrow which should make a big difference....

Over the summer I'm going ford PCD and 15" alloys so we'll see what happens then....

Really too small for the wheel arches. 14" is better - 15" looks fine too!

It all depends what size tyres you fit. 175x80x13 are almost the same circumference as 155x80x14 and would make little difference to the gearing or performance. They also fill the wheel arch nicely.

But the wheels still look 'too small' for the arch - although the larger tyres fill up the space, the balance looks wrong - to me anyway!

I agree + BMC 13" make the car look like you've jacked it up and it still hasn't settled down. I think 14" (whatever style) look much more balanced

I was undecided about 13 or 14 inch wheels but the 13s were going cheap and fitted Series MM hubcaps.
Just personal opinion but I think low profile tyres look wrong on an old car.

Indeed! Keep the profile ! Although I think 70 profile is still ok.

I like my 13" wheels.....

Saying that, when I get my escort axle and front discs I'll be going 15"
