I will apolagise first as I am sure I am covering old ground here, i tried to search this forum for answers first before posting questions un necessarily My pickup has been stood up for over 10 years and now I am trying to get it back into a roadworth condition one of the jobs on my list to tackle next is to replace the old perished and cracked tyres, initial searches reveal that these tyres are no longer readily available, I also have rusty wheels which would need blasting and refinishing as well as a new set of hub caps, valves or inner tubes, a quick add up and it could quite easily cost over 200 pounds, (although 50.00 a corner sounds better), plus all the running around ordering tyres, getting them fitted, getting the wheels painted ect. I see a couple of the morris minor specialist mail order companys offer a set of 5.5 x 14 minator wheels for about 360.00 which seems like a good deal and these come with tyres fitted and ready to go. My question is (Finally he gets to the point you say ) would it be this simple, or would there then be other modifications, these seem a lot wider than the stock wheels? Regards, Steve

Unless they've got a ridiculous offset, 5.5" wheels should be fine

Choose a tyre with a low profile which will give you the same circumference as your existing tyres and the wheels should fit without affecting the overall gearing. Remember you need a spare.

Mine did. Just check the length of (studs?) from the wheel. Some wheels have lionger ones than others. Mine was a case of just jack up and change tyre.

Radials have a smaller diameter than crossplies so an 80 profile 155/14 tyre is nothing to worry about.
Clearance to the top trunnions is importan, but as the wheels and tyrres are sold by a Minor specialist, just ask them if they fit (asking us isn't going to get you a refund if they didn't give a correct answer).

The width of a rim itself does NOT tell you the tyre clearnace, it depends on the tyre width and the rim offset as well as the rim width...
Bear in mind that the Minor 8CWT van rims were 4.5 inches wide. A wider rim will need a lower offset value (further out).

As mentioned by Lou - don't forget top check about wheel studs and wheel nuts - different one's may be needed.

Personally I'd just sand and paint some original wheels and get some tyres. Saloon wheels are vERY easy to come by so if yours are heavily rusted or dented then go for some like for like replacements. Sandblasting is fine if you want perfection, but sanding and painting is usually enough if the rim is ok to start with.

The units sold by Minor suppliers are intended to be straight bolt-on. But just check with the suppliers! This assumes your car still has the normal hubs etc - and hasn't been changed to disc brakes etc which sometimes use either marina or Ford hubs - with different PCD.

Wouldn't bolt on to a standard car.... (well, vaux is 4x100 so it would "fit" but NOT be safe)
