The 'wide' van rims are still only 4.5 J - best to stick to 155 section tyres!

Thanks all - that's good news as I've already ordered 5 x 155s! So I will have skinny wheels on the front and fat ones on the rear :-) Best bet back to the wire brushing and painting before the tyres arrive.

Finally managed to rectify this problem :-) All wheels have been wire brushed, sanded, primed and painted and stuck back on with new tyres :-) Just imagine how fast I'll be going with those new big 14 inch wheels !!!! I've asked Dennis (aupickup) to post some pics of the finished result for me as this PC doesn't have bluetooth! So all I've got to do now is everything else

Remember this thread ........ I'm sure you will all be pleased to know that I now have five original moggie wheels and after much wire brushing and sanding, new wheel nuts and spraying and new tyres I think its much safer. And looks better too - see new pics at the end. Special thanks to all who helped me get there :)

Rostyle wheels use a steeper taper than ordinary Mog wheels. Probably 10 degrees difference, easily enough to knacker the wheels AND nuts. Some Mog wheelnuts hve tapers at BOTH ends. I seem to recall that GPO vans had them.

Midget rims are 13 inch but Vauxhall Rostyles have 14 inch rims on some models with the same PCD. I imagine that MGB Rostyles will fit the 4,5 inch PCD of the MM hubs?

Hmmm. Computer seems to be playing up. I didn't show anything after page one until a few seconds ago and then pasted my reply without asking me. It seems that you've got sorted out now.<<<<<

after reading this subject I checked the wheels on my pick up and they have no markings it looks like I have standard saloon wheels fitted, should I have the wider wheels on the pick up or was it just the van that had wider wheels ?, Regards, Steve

it was only 8CWT vans and pick ups that had the wider rims

Thank you aupickup, my next stupid question is how do I tell if my pick up was an 8cwt or a 6 cwt ? what are the differences ? (apart from 2 cwt  ) did they have a different body shape or different chassis, Regards, Steve
