Breather on 1275 midget engine

Well, it turns out that I have a 1275 midget engine under the bonnet - thanks to all who identified it in an earlier post.

The problem is there is no breather on the timing chain cover and I can't find a replacement anywhere.
I'm thinking about drilling a hole out and attaching a cylinder to the existing one.

Does anyone have a pic of the front and back of a 1275 cover showing the placement of the breather cylinder and the size of the hole leading to it from the engine so I can get it as close as possible? I'm not sure if the positioning is critical but t would be nice to get it right.

Alternatively, is there another way of sorting the pressure without having to take the timing cover off? eg Can something be done with the rocker cover instead?

Hi LA if you are looking to fit the timing cover with a flame trap from a 1275 Mini spares should be able to help.If you have a duplex kit you may have to remove some of the metal inside the cover for clearance.They show a good photo on their website.

This is a breather we made for a 1360cc motor works very well at reducing sump pressure, shown without filter here

Yes - the breather on the fuel pump mount is used quite often by the Mini lads - if they don't have a mechanical pump fitted.
Trouble with rocker cover breather is that the fumes struggle to get up the pushrod holes against the torrent of oil falling down ! It's well worth having - but not as the ONLY breather. Timing covers with breather are often on ebay.
