pulley wheel...

Post by callyspoy »

can you fit a 1098 pulley wheen to a marina 1275 engine? i know it physically fits, but is there any issue with it? it's looks quite a bit different, but i don't have a 1275 one spare...any help appreciated!

Pulley wheel ? On the crankshaft nose end ? It really should be a crankshaft damper on a 1275 - but yes a 1098 crank pulley will fit the 1275 - but how it will affect crankshaft life is up to you!

I thought you had gone all Fiaty ???
Crankdampers are unfortunately hard to find - and expensive when you do. Take care if you find one to make sure the keyway is not worn - ie widened by vibration on the crank !!

ESM do them, I think - A sort of aftermarket harmonic damper arrangement....

Is it not just a solid steel pulley - with no 'damping' properties whatsoever? And not inexpensive !

Not sure Roy, hence my "I think" statement. Wasn't it "MoggyTech" who tried one?

I have indeed gone "Fiaty" BMCe, but i have a 1275 that i am rebuilding to sell, that was missing front and rear plates and all bits after that. so i have sourced all but that i believe...

Well - their's is £36 or so ( http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/pro ... 86b4b3f25- ) and it's just a solid pulley with no damping effect - may actually do more harm than good. I wouldn't bother - especially if it's an engine for sale !
