that might help i bought a column and the ignition is on the column which is for the late models and i have a foot of loose wires with no conectors

The colours are standard so the wires that go to the central ignition switch would go to the column switch. Start with the wires you can identify and from then on it is a process of elimination.

Aaah, I had no end of problems with that theres no info as the pins aren't numbered. If I remember I will take a pic of the back of mine tomorrow....

Print the wiring diagram out - and keep a copy in the car! Laminated if possible - for use on dark and stormy night when the lights go out!
