Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines!!

Post by jonathon »

Great news :D . As you all know, the 09 National is at the Haynes Motor Museum. even better news is that they have a short sprint track which the MMOC have been able to hire for the weekend.
JLH have been asked to run a two day trackday for those who fancy the chance to put their machinery to the test, plus we will be giving demo rides in a 170bhp traveller, a 350bhp 2dr and a 340 bhp kit car.
We have yet to finalise the weekends format, but will imagine that demo runs and timed individual runs will attract a small fee which will go straight to the MMOC's nominated charity.
If you have any requests or ideas that you would like to see implemented into this event, please feel free to add them to this thread.

Look forward to seeing most of you having a go :D

Wow, sounds good, the 350bhp 2-door sounds fun.
I'm also tempted to take my own 2-door for a spin..

A bit to far away for me, pity as a 170bhp Traveller would be 'interesting'

Re the 2dr, 0-60 we are hoping for around 5 secs if not less as the car will be pretty lightweight and were running a 4.1 LSD . Top speed should be over 130mph, the 170bhp will do 135mph, but over this speed aerodynamics takes its toll.
The car is still being welded up and is a bare shell with no sills or x member ends, suspension, brakes etc. Think there will be a few late nights over the next 3 weeks as it has to be ready for the supercharged motor and a shakedown trackday before we can release it on the public :o :o :D

Any of them will be doing well if they get up to 60mph on the Haynes circuit. it is only tiny. :(
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

I find testicle size is more a limiting factor to top speed in a moggy than aerodynamics.

Anything over about 110mph and its not nice at all.

I might have to come to the national after all. 8)

speak for yourself mate.

I have no idea what mine would do but I would guess knocking on the door of 120mph. I just find the thought of an accident at those sort of speeds in a moggy makes me not want to find the top speed.

So how many folk would like to drive this test track then. It would be useful to gain some indication of interest, so that we can organise the times on track.

Will they be carrying out a noise test? They had a lot of problems with NIMBYs regarding noise a few years ago so you might want to check on the acceptable noise limits.
