B116/368 is not on Graham's list so no known history. Pity it is just the bare head, but as you say it would be ok as a spare.

What about corrosion on these? would it be obvious if looked at or is it usually confined to 'hidden areas'?

There looks to be a bit of corrosion around one of the combustion chambers but it should be repairable. I've seen worse.
I know of engines where it has been almost impossible to separate the Alta head from the block.

Its a pity that the rocker shaft assembly is missing, as I have the rest of the parts....although taking a chance on the lack of corrosion from a picture is risky....can be very expensive to fix....
